Alveena Farooq, as an undergraduate student of English Linguistics at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, has been deeply rooted in the vibrant culture of Pakistan. Growing up, she witnessed firsthand the injustices faced by indigenous communities, particularly women, the disabled, and the transgender community, in her own village of Pirghori.
OMLAS Project: Motivated by a burning desire to bridge these disparities, she embarked on a journey to create positive change. Her initial project idea revolves around establishing initiatives that empower marginalized groups, with a keen focus on Sustainable Development Goals; SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 8:Decent work and Economic Growth, SDG13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnership fro the goals. This project will be rooted in her village of Pirghori, serving as a launchpad for nationwide expansion.
